Scott Gray
Owner

Scott Gray, CPA, CIA is the owner of Gary B Coleman, CPA on January 4, 2016.

I grew up in a small southeastern town, Moravia - population 700. My graduating class had 38, and that was a big class for Moravia. After graduating, I attended Simpson College and got my BA in Accounting. I landed my first job at the original Peoples Bank on the square in Indianola. I was there for five years before starting at Brenton Bank in Des Moines as an Internal Auditor for three years. From there I was an Internal Auditor with Allied Insurance. I was then hired by one of my Allied “clients”, a subsidiary called Nationwide Advantage Mortgage Company. I was with NAMC for 15 years as the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and Controller. I’ve been a CPA for 19 years.

I’ve been involved in the community over the years. I coached Parks & Rec sports and AAU Basketball. I helped start and was on the board of two non-profit organizations, IBA and Faithworkz. I was the chair for the missions committee for four years at First United Methodist Church. I was also on the Indianola School Board. I’m currently the Indianola Rotary Club Co-Treasurer.

I am married to Deanna Gray. I have three children, Jordan, Ember, and Danny, and two step children, Connor and Aric Humphrey. The youngest just graduated high school this year, so we are new empty nesters.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, golfing, biking, reading, and traveling. This year, Deanna and I rode RAGBRAI for the first time.
